The pictures illustrating this video show us that women are "oppressed" since their birth : they grow up in the atmosphere with a lot of rules established beforehand : to wear the pink and to play dolls when it's a girl, to wear heels and dresses when it's a woman, to have long hair, to wear make-up, to get married and to have children. The central idea of this speech is that the humor can make certain things change as far as feminist cause is concerned. And I'm agree with it, because it's not thanks to the violence (but thanks to the humor) that these changes can become reality. She is also totally right when she says that sense of humor change according to one's culture. For example French and English people are neighbours but as for me I laugh only when the French joke and I really can't understand the english sense of humor.
But to my mind no matter the nation, the humor is already appreciated.

"Pagan" beliefs.

I had my first love when I was at school. His name was Cerguei. I was secretly in love with him but I didn't want him to know it. I didn't have any courage to confess it. So I decided to invent a signature with our names' initials : a capital L and a small c attached to e. The capital L was "lubov" ("love" in Russian) and two small letters were our names ( Cerguei and Ekaterina). It was symbolized Ekaterina love Cerguei. I was writing my new signature on all my notebooks and rough books and nobody could understand why I was doing it. It was like in this video : I thought he would understand it (even it was a secret) and would fall in love with me...

My signature didn't change and even now I use it.

At the age of 10 we were allowed to write with a fountain pen. I decided to follow my schoolmates who had already had this pen and I asked my parents to buy me one.

After the first quiz done with this pen I got an excellent mark without make any effort. So I thought that all my knowledge was in this pen and everytime when we had a really difficult exam I was gnawing it to extract the answer. At the end of a school year it was broken and I was really sad because all my knowledge was contained in this piece of metal.

Hi Amanda,

I'd like to thank you for my stay in Florida. I had a good vacation in your company.
During this stay I made one of my dreams come true : to take a ride in a hovercraft through the Everglades. ...and our fantastic and unforgettable week-end in the city of Baton-Rouge in Louisiana is engraved in my memory forever. I was very surprised to see Americans speaking French in the streets. The cajun food is really delicious and even now I perceive flavour of the walnut pie and jambalaya.
I want to say that in Florida I made me feel at home, I'm happy because I have a friend like you and as for my voyage I haven't any regrets. I just think it was very short. My bagages and my heart are plenty of souvenirs.
Don't forget my invitation. I'm dying to relive these moments one more time but now in France .
The oceans divide the continents but not the hearts of real friends.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Kate

PS I enclose a few photos I've taken during my stay in USA.

A formidable person

Here is a story about one of my aunts who is a professor. After her daughter's birth she began to lose her sight (she was short-sighted). Firstly doctors gave her the strong eyeglasses but the problem was more important. After a few health checks in a Paris hospital, retinitif pigmentosa (a genetic incurable disease) was detected. It was really hard for her to accept this diagnostic but she had to progress in spite of it-especially because of her children. She was very anxious that they could have the same disease. All the family was examined and it was my aunt's brother who had the same diagnostic. Despite of her handicap, that was not recognized as such, she continued to teach. She asked for a small classroom to give classes and not to give way to this terrible illness.
Over the years the illness became worse. When she couldn't conceal it anymore, she told her students about it, she asked them for their assistance : to put their schoolbags under their chairs not to fall. Students had also to write only with a black ballpoint pens. My aunt got a technical assistance (a videoscope) to grade the exams. She exercised until the age of 56. But all her life she had been supported by her husband. At the very beginning her children didn't understand that their mother was sightless because she always accomplished all household chores. She began to use a white walkihg-stick and learnt the Brail alphabet only when she was retired.
But don't believe that she is inactif now. She sings in a choral group, serfs the Web via the talking enable computer, goes skiing and practices many other things.

Dear professor!

You said you love French food. Here is a good idea to have a good time in the 4-star restaurant that offers you unbeatable prices. The restaurant's name is Le Beaumarchais.
Let me explain you why this place is so nice and attractive (at least for me). Firstly because of its high-level : I talk about the service and the food quality, and of course, about the prices. My text is about the restaurant forming a part of the hotel management school Lesdiguières. It's situated in Beaumarchais street. It's one of the best hotel management schools in France. Do you know who cooks and serves there?...Students of this school working under the direction of their professor.
When you go to this restaurant, it's no only to eat...but to enjoy the live show that you can see in front of you. They often carve and cook meat, fish and chicken-meat just in front of all the guests.
You can also see them cooking different sorts of desserts directly in the dining room.
As for low prices (about 16,50 euros for the full meal), this school-restaurant is not allowed to compete with other restaurants and not allowed to advertise that's why it's you who can make it known through word of mouth and to introduce other persons to the world of the real French food (of course if you like and appreciate it).

Bon appétit!!!!
